At Operation Free Women, our mission has always been to ensure that every individual has access to the reproductive healthcare they deserve. Recently, we have faced significant hurdles in finding national clinic partners to provide direct abortion services bordering states where these procedures are still illegal. While we continue our tireless search for clinics nationwide that can navigate the requirements of our donors and mission, we are excited to announce a new, vital service that is 100% legal in all 50 US states, regardless of local bans.

We are now officially providing Free Plan B (Emergency Contraceptive) kits to those who need them most. While we continue to work individually with various clinics across the country to satisfy our ongoing original mission, this new program allows us to provide immediate support to patients directly, bypassing the difficulties of sourcing national clinic partners. The kits are available at a variety of retailers in all US states, and we will be utilizing Walgreen’s and other retailers to provide the kits either at their pickup counters or through home delivery for those who prefer the option.

How to Request Your Free Emergency Contraception

If you have had an unprotected encounter or a contraceptive failure, time is the most important factor. We urge patients to CALL US as early as possible. For the kit to be effective, you should ideally be within 72 hours (3 days) of the event. If we are unable to pick up, please leave a voicemail with your first and last name, a contact number, how many hours or days have passed since the event, and your city and state. Providing this information immediately ensures we can process your request as quickly as possible.

Once your call is returned and the request is processed, we will coordinate a pickup order or same-day delivery through Walgreens. This service is provided FREE OF CHARGE to the patient. We will provide you with specific instructions on what to tell the pharmacy counter to ensure you receive your kit without any issues.

Program Eligibility and Identity Verification

To ensure our resources reach those with the least access to care, this service is only available to patients residing in abortion-illegal states. Additionally, there is a strict lifetime limit of one treatment kit per patient. To maintain the integrity of this program and ensure we can help as many people as possible, we verify identity by collecting a photo of the front and back of the patient’s driver’s license.

Please note that no proof of pregnancy is required to receive a kit. Because Plan B is a preventative emergency contraceptive and not an abortifacient, it is designed to be used before a pregnancy is established.

Critical Timing for Maximum Effectiveness

It is important to understand that the effectiveness of a Plan B kit drops significantly as time passes. These kits are approximately most effective when administered within 72 hours of the event. Because our team requires at least 24 hours of notice to process and submit pharmacy orders, we ask that you call us immediately—ideally aiming for a 48-hour window—to ensure the kit can be administered within an effective timeframe.

Our Commitment to Your Care

In the event that the emergency contraceptive is not effective, Operation Free Women remains committed to your health. If we have donation funds available, patients may contact us within a few days of a positive test to request a referral and financial assistance for travel to an out-of-state (abortion-legal) treatment center. We serve women in only abortion-banned states by providing the resources necessary to access care elsewhere, as stated in our mission, which is available on our front homepage.
